To prevent splash over on the instrument, use only a sufficient amount of liquid to cover the specimen. Specimens may be up to 140mm diameter. Note, the vacuum is not used when conducting wet abrasion tests. |
The Taber Abraser (Abrader) can be used to determine the effect of absorbed and / or surface moisture on abrasion resistance. To accomplish this, the E140-75 Rimmed Specimen Holder is utilized in place of the standard holder. This holder has a 9.53 mm raised rim for retaining liquids during a test. A rubber pad is adhered to the table to prevent specimens from slipping during the test.
